John L Hester was born and raised in Santa Monica, CA. Raised with the musical influence of Jazz, John joined the US Navy, attended the Navy School of Music and Naval Bandmaster School to hone his musical talent. Having served for 20 years in the Navy as a BandMaster, John retired his horn and moved to Las Vegas, NV where he worked for Steve Wynn at the Mirage Casino as a Casino Floor Supervisor.
After 20 years in the gaming industry, John moved to New Orleans, LA to pursue his first love, Jazz Music! John has played with legendary musicians such as Percy Sledge, Pete Fountain, The Coasters, The Marvellettes, Al Hirt, and many other local musicians from New Orleans, Atlanta, GA, and all along the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he moved to be with his two daughters, Holly & Heidi.
John is very well known as Holly’s Dad and has named his Jazz Band, “Holly’s Dad’s Jazz Band”. You can hear him playing at the Silver Slipper Casino with the South Coast Stompers. To the HL Raymond Properties team, John is much more than Holly’s Dad. He’s “Papa” and lends a helping hand where ever he is needed. From changing lightbulbs around the office to hammering signs for our office’s listings, John is the “Everything Guy” and HL Raymond Properties loves having him around!
